#179. When a conflict of interest exists, it must be divested with no option to return.

Let's review a few examples:

  • An employee of Company A - at any level - should never have investments in or shorts against Company B.
  • A public servant should never be able to trade their position for one in an industry they oversee or regulate.
  • A politician should never have a portfolio of stocks or bonds when their decisions or opinions can influence those markets.
