Full disclosure: This can only be reported as rumor or hearsay.

An individual can or may have a soul.  Some marriages are referenced as having one.

It doesn't hurt to consider how inanimate objects are sometimes said to have a soul.  Where the soul came from may be pertinent.  Things produced in factories aren't known to have one installed during assembly.

Resonance between an individual and the object may explain the attachment.

Even when pre-owned - willingly handed over by an individual - there's no mistaking it.  Either point of view appears equally accurate.

How would an individual lose or give away their soul?

We aren't theologians.  Giving one away or tossing it aside sounds like death itself to us.  Having the devil's personal cell phone number may or may not change the outcome
