#16. 5G is the first cellular technology not superior to the previous version.

It has more bandwidth.  Great.  We can always use more of that.

What about the area one tower can cover?  What about the ability to get past or through obstacles?

Both those metrics are terrible.  Is this progress?

Let's call it "fixing" the mistakes of prior versions:

  • The 'millimeter waves' used by 5G aren't lower in power but downloads finish faster so less power is used.
  • The frequencies don't penetrate people (at least not by much) which sounds good until one considers how casual human health or safety has been treated up to now.
  • The antennas used are considered "highly directional" with signals aimed at the intended cell phone with minimal "overspray".
    • Weren't those types of antennas available for 2G, 3G, and 4G too?

Here's your alleged revelation:

  • "5G isn't the conspiracy: it's the cover-up."
